cd review: Genius is a hard thing to measure. I'm pretty sure I'm no genius and if the old saying, "it takes one to know one" is true I'd say PJ Bond aint a genius either. Instead, Bond is just a guy who has done the punk thing, then the indie thing, and has now moved onto the neo-folk/alt country thing. He probably wont be opening for Scott Biram or Wayne Hancock anytime soon, but you might catch him opening more appropriately for your favorite local coffee shop band gone rustic. He looks like the kind of guy to pay $50 for a plaid western shirt. Bond's music is semi-poppy with some organic and folksy undertones, but it's also trendy. The limited addition of lap and pedal steel was a nice touch. There's a good chance people from NY and NJ will really like this album as they listen to it on their iPods while riding the subway into the big city to buy fancy Swedish furniture.
